We all know how far the world has progressed when it comes to innovations, lets talk about one such famous innovation known as 3-Dimensional or 3-D.
A three-dimensional area is a geometrical placing wherein three values are required to decide the location of an element. This is the informal term that means the time period dimension.
1922: The first-ever 3D movie named The Power of Love was released at Ambassador Hotel Theatre in Los Angeles on 27th September 1922.
1952: The first-ever color 3-D movie Bwana Devil was released. It was produced and directed by Arch Oboler.
1981: The era of 3d boom when a lot of 3-D films came out such as Comin at Ya! Amityville 3-D, Friday the 13th Part III, and Jaws 3-D.
2009: Avatar directed by James Cameron was a milestone in the history of 3-D films, it was shot and developed using Fusion Camera System which helped to push 3-D towards the mainstream.
The list will go on with further innovations in this field.
Apart from Film Industry, the field of 3-D has been a milestone of innovation in various aspects.
Innovations in other Fields
SketchUp: It is a 3-D software modeling computer program. It helps in drawing applications of the architecture, interior design, landscape, civil and mechanical engineering, film and video games designs, landscape. It is owned by Trimble Inc.
3-D Warehouse is open source and free of cost, where many SketchUp users could download directly and upload 3-D models to share. It is one of the most popular 3-D content sites. It is also used by SketchUp designers to draw inspiration for their new products.
3D Printers: It was founded by Chuck Hull. It is a construction of a 3-dimensional object from a 3-D digital model or CAD model. It refers to the variety of processes in which various materials are deposited, integrated, and solidified via computer-controlled to create a three-dimensional object. The materials could be anything such as plastics, powder grains, liquids, etc are fused together layer by layer. 3D printers can make a variety of products such as furniture, wax castings, gifts, shoe design, jewelry, phone covers, novelty items, toys, etc.
- Automobile industry has also started using 3D printing to produce various car parts, tools, jigs, fixtures etc thereby saving time.
- Aviation industry made use of 3D printers to print Cobalt Fuel Nozzles for its LEAP aircraft engines.
- Construction industry has started making 3D houses which are now commercially available in various cities in the US.
- Consumer Products are also produced using 3D printers. Many of these products are Mobile vases, shoes, earrings, architectural models, eyeglass frames etc.
3D Tours: It allows users to look at imagery and experience how it feels to move through the property or place. These are created using photographing spaces using a panoramic camera lens and then stitching images together with those images on special software to create a streaming video. In simple words, a virtual tour is a simulation of the already existing location. These are highly used by real estate companies.
It enables one to have a 360-degree tour of the property or place they are touring virtually. For example, British Airways had developed a virtual tour of their business class. The aircraft was flying from London City Airport to New York City. The potential customers had an opportunity to go through the services and explore the aircraft before making payments for the tickets.
Google Maps also makes use of 360-degree virtual tours of places like roads, streets, cities, towns, countries, etc using satellite images. By using this feature, it became relatives easier to understand the location and reach the destination on time.
3D Sky: A unique concept of applying various colors and designs to specially designed aluminum profiles. It is applicable for flat, circular, and various geometrical ceilings. Due to its flexibility, each project offers a very rare design. 3D Sky or even know as Sky murals can be used not only for ceilings but also for decorative reasons. Plus, point! It does not require any kind of maintenance, repairing and isn’t affected by water or moisture. It can be easily cleaned, it’s lightweight and non-flammable.
3-D is cool, isn’t it? If you are interested in 3D, these are some widely used tools that can help you create or design 3D images, virtual tours, 3-D tours, and much more! These are 3D modeling software for beginners!
It offers a wide range of modeling tools, customizable interface, support for lights and materials and it also has a built-in AutoUV mapping facility. It offers advanced tools however it is easy to use.
Developed by Autodesk, it is an art software for working with high-resolution dynamic triangle meshes. It is free of cost and helps you with all your 3-D projects. It is tailor-made for 3-D printing, you can not only design but also repair 3D models. Its vast variety of tools.
It is a sculpting program, free browser-based, offers a simple selection of tools. You sculpt anything from scratch. If you made any new models that can be easily prepared for 3D printing and sent to 3D printing services if you intend to outsource your 3-D models.
It is a 3-D sculpting program used among various advanced and professionals, however, the software is made keeping in mind the beginners. It is quite easy to learn for those with little to no experience in 3D modeling. It also offers tutorial content in the classroom, which will enable beginners to learn the basics.
It is a completely free open-source animation and 3D modeling program. As a matter of fact, this program is for beginners but used even by professionals for making full-length animation movies such as Netflix’s NextGen. It is free of cost however it can be a little intimidating for beginners.
